Vogue
"The world's leading fashion magazine."
About
Vogue began as a weekly society gazette in New York City on December 17, 1892, founded by Arthur Baldwin Turnure. Sixteen years later, publisher Condé Montrose Nast acquired the magazine, folding it into what would become Condé Nast, the parent company that still owns it today. Vogue soon shifted from weekly to monthly publication, and its first international edition, British Vogue, launched in 1916. As of March 2025, the brand spans 28 international editions, with 11 published directly by Condé Nast and 16 under license. The magazine covers haute couture, beauty, fashion, culture, living, and runway content, positioning itself as a cultural barometer that sets trends and contextualizes fashion within broader society.
Anna Wintour served as editor-in-chief of the American edition from 1988 until 2025, transforming Vogue into a cultural powerhouse. In 2025, Chloe Malle succeeded her as editor-in-chief of the flagship edition, while Wintour became Global Chief Content Officer and Global Editorial Director for Condé Nast, overseeing Vogue and other titles. The magazine's pages have featured countless actors, musicians, models, athletes, and celebrities, shaping public fascination with fame and fashion. Vogue Italia is widely regarded as the top fashion magazine in the world. Headquartered at One World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, Vogue also maintains global offices and continues to produce digital content, video, social media, and major events like the Met Gala.
