Type‐Moon
Japan"Creators of Fate, Tsukihime, and the Nasuverse"
About
Type-Moon began as a small doujin circle in Tokyo in 1999, founded by Kinoko Nasu and Takashi Takeuchi. The pair first gained attention with the visual novel Tsukihime, which they released as self-published doujin software. Its success led them to incorporate as Notes Co., Ltd, though the Type-Moon brand name stuck around as a nod to their indie roots.
After going commercial, the studio released Fate/stay night, a visual novel that became a massive hit and one of the most recognized titles in the genre. Originally an adult game, it was later re-released in all-ages versions, broadening its audience. The story of the Holy Grail War, with its blend of historical heroes and modern magic, caught on and spawned an entire franchise spanning anime, manga, light novels, and more.
Kinoko Nasu, the primary writer, has shaped nearly every Type-Moon project with his intricate scenarios and world-building. Takashi Takeuchi, the other co-founder, handles character designs and art direction. Composer Keita Haga has scored most of the company's games, while programmer Nobuyuki Kiyotake helped build the technical side. Together, they've created a shared universe that fans call the Nasuverse, connecting titles like Tsukihime, Fate, and The Garden of Sinners.
