Siemens AG is a German multinational powerhouse that engineers everything from factory floors to hospital scanners. It stands as Europe's largest engineering company, with a strong grip on industrial automation, building technology, rail systems, and healthcare equipment. The firm even claims the title of global market leader in industrial AI and software, a position that shapes how modern manufacturing and infrastructure operate worldwide.

The story begins on October 1, 1847, when Werner von Siemens and Johann Georg Halske founded the Telegraphen Bau-Anstalt von Siemens & Halske in a Berlin back room. That small telegraph workshop grew into a sprawling conglomerate, and by 1966, the modern corporation took shape through a merger of Siemens & Halske, Siemens-Schuckert, and Siemens-Reiniger-Werke. Today, with headquarters in both Munich and Berlin, Siemens employs around 320,000 people and pulled in roughly €78 billion in revenue during 2023. It's a heavyweight on the DAX and Euro Stoxx 50, and by December of that year, it ranked as the second most valuable German company by market cap.

Siemens now runs four main divisions: Digital Industries, Smart Infrastructure, Mobility, and Financial Services, with Mobility operating as a separate entity. Over the years, the company has spun off several major businesses, including chipmaker Infineon Technologies in 1999, the mobile phone division in 2005, Gigaset Communications in 2008, lighting giant Osram in 2013, medical tech firm Siemens Healthineers in 2017, and Siemens Energy in 2020.
