NBCUniversal

NBCUniversal is a massive American media and entertainment conglomerate, a subsidiary of Comcast, with its headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. The company takes its name from two of its most famous divisions: NBC, one of the Big Three television networks in the United States, and Universal Pictures, a major Hollywood film studio. Beyond these, NBCUniversal owns a diverse portfolio including cable networks like Bravo, Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo, and the streaming service Peacock. Through its Universal Destinations & Experiences division, it also operates theme parks around the globe, making it the third-largest amusement park operator worldwide.

The conglomerate was formed on May 11, 2004, when General Electric, then-owner of NBC, acquired 80% of Vivendi Universal Entertainment from Vivendi Universal. This created NBC Universal, with Vivendi holding a 20% stake. In 2011, Comcast bought a 51% controlling interest from GE, which had earlier purchased Vivendi's share. By 2013, Comcast fully owned NBCUniversal after acquiring the remaining 49% from GE. Since 2018, the company has also controlled Sky Group, a European media giant formed from the acquisition of Sky Italia and Sky Deutschland in 2014. [edit]
