    About

What started as a steel trading firm in Ludhiana on October 2, 1945 has grown into one of India's most recognizable industrial names. K.C. Mahindra and J.C. Mahindra launched the business under the name Mahindra & Mohammed before partition forced a change that left them as Mahindra & Mahindra. The company pivoted from trading to manufacturing shortly after its founding and eventually built a massive footprint across automobiles and farm equipment.

Today the Mumbai-based conglomerate operates through a federation of over 100 subsidiaries with eight public listings. Rajesh Jejurikar leads the organization as Managing Director and CEO while Velusamy R. holds a senior leadership role within the group structure. Their automotive division produces some of the country's best-selling utility vehicles including the Scorpio, Thar, and XUV700. The farm equipment side remains the world's largest tractor manufacturer by volume.
