ITN

Independent Television News, better known as ITN, is a British media production company that has been the backbone of television news in the UK for over six decades. Founded in 1955, ITN originally served as the news arm for the ITV network, producing its flagship bulletins. Today, the company continues to provide news programming for ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5, while also branching out into documentaries, sports coverage, advertising, and digital content for clients around the world. Headquartered in London, ITN maintains bureaus in Beijing, Brussels, Jerusalem, Johannesburg, New York, Paris, Sydney, and Washington, D.C.

From its inception until 1999, ITN was synonymous with ITV's news output, but that year the network rebranded its news as ITV News. ITN remains the primary news provider for ITV, even as the brand name has shifted. The company's ownership structure reflects its close ties to the broadcasting industry: ITV plc, through its subsidiary ITV Broadcasting Limited, holds a 40% stake. The remaining shares are split equally among the Daily Mail and General Trust, Thomson Reuters, and Informa plc, each owning 20%.

In 2022, ITN underwent its first major rebrand in over fifty years, replacing the static linked-letter logo from 1970 with an animated identity that adapts to its environment. The new strapline, Truth to Life, was introduced alongside a purpose-driven mission. The rebrand, led by Rudd Studio and Undivided, signaled the company's evolution from a legacy British news organisation into a global production powerhouse producing content for streaming platforms like Amazon Prime.
