About
FXX launched on September 2, 2013, as a comedy-focused sister channel to the already established FX network. Owned by FX Networks, a unit of Disney Entertainment, the service targets men aged 16 to 34 with a mix of original series and acquired feature films. The channel replaced Fox Soccer on the airwaves, marking a strategic shift toward adult animation and sitcoms that defined its early identity. Its programming strategy leaned heavily into cult favorites and modern comedies rather than broad family fare. A memorable stunt during its debut involved airing every single episode of The Simpsons currently available in a twelve-day marathon. This feat set a record for the longest continuous television event at the time before VH1 Classic later surpassed it with a longer run of Saturday Night Live. By late 2023, the channel reached about 58 million pay television households across the United States, a figure that had dipped from its peak of 87 million in 2019.
