Initially operating as its own entity, Arista navigated various corporate shifts, including periods under Columbia Pictures and the Bertelsmann Music Group's North American division.

Throughout its active years, Arista released a string of commercially successful and critically admired albums across multiple genres. Many artists associated with the label achieved widespread recognition, with their music becoming staples on radio and charts. The label was put on hiatus in 2011, marking the end of an era for many music fans. However, the Arista name returned to the music scene in 2018, re-established under the Sony Music Entertainment umbrella.
