United States"Where weather comes to life"
About
Joel N. Myers launched AccuWeather in 1962 with a very specific goal: helping highway departments and ski resorts survive harsh winter conditions. The company officially adopted the name Accu-Weather in 1964 before settling on its current spelling. By 1971, the team expanded beyond seasonal data to provide year-round forecasts, and they made history in 1975 by introducing the industry's first seven-day local forecast for television.
Today the company operates as a private entity led by CEO Barry Lee Myers, Joel's son. While the business remains headquartered in Ferguson Township near State College, Pennsylvania, it has grown into a global operation with offices spanning New York City, Wichita, Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul, and Mumbai. This network supports a massive B2B client base including news networks, airlines, logistics companies, and emergency management agencies that rely on proprietary algorithms for hyper-local accuracy.
