Founded in March 1949 as TCF Television Productions, this studio has spent decades shaping the American television landscape. Originally serving as the broadcast division for 20th Century Fox, it evolved through several name changes before Disney acquired its parent company in 2019. The corporate shuffle led to a rebranding on August 10, 2020, when the "Fox" moniker vanished from the title to prevent confusion with the new Fox Corporation. Since then, the entity operates under the straightforward name 20th Television, managing everything from classic reruns to fresh hits distributed globally via Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

The studio holds a unique position in the industry hierarchy. Following the closure of ABC Signature on October 1, 2024, 20th Television stepped into the role of ABC's primary production arm. This shift solidified its status as a powerhouse behind some of the network's most consistent programming.
