Though Nowell won no major individual awards, Sublime's self-titled album has been widely celebrated. Rolling Stone ranked "What I Got" number 84 on its list of the 100 Greatest Songs of the 1990s in 2019. VH1 placed Sublime at number 44 on its 100 Greatest Artists of the 1990s in 2012. Billboard ranked the Sublime album number 52 on its Greatest Albums of All Time list in 2015. These honors reflect the enduring popularity and influence of Nowell's music.
