Founded in 1966 by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro, Bottega Veneta began as a small workshop in Vicenza dedicated to high-quality leather goods. This focus on craftsmanship over branding defined the house for decades before it became a global powerhouse under Kering, which acquired full control in 2005 after buying a majority stake in 2001.

Operational headquarters shifted from Vicenza to Milan to align with the modern Italian fashion industry hub. Recent leadership changes reflect a strategic pivot toward financial growth and expanded product categories. Romain Spitzer assumed the role of CEO in mid-2026, succeeding Bartolomeo Rongone, while Louise Trotter took over as creative director in 2024 to blend contemporary silhouettes with heritage techniques.

The company reported revenue of approximately €1.7 billion in 2024, demonstrating resilience within the ultra-luxury sector. Beyond handbags like the Cassette and Andiamo, the portfolio includes ready-to-wear clothing, jewelry, and fragrances.
