Born Pink

On September 16, 2022, the South Korean girl group Blackpink released their second studio album Born Pink through YG Entertainment and Interscope Records. This record marked their first full-length project since 2020's The Album and arrived with a runtime of just under 28 minutes across eight tracks. The production team led by Teddy Park crafted a sonic landscape blending K-pop, hip hop, and electronic dance music with distinct nods to disco, stadium rock, and trap beats.

Commercially the release shattered records for female K-pop acts. It became the first album by a girl group in the genre to top both the US Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart simultaneously. Sales figures indicate over two million copies moved within the first few months, securing multi-platinum certifications in South Korea and gold or platinum status in various international markets.

Three singles drove the campaign including the pre-release hit "Pink Venom" and the title track "Shut Down." Both songs earned Guinness World Records for being the most-streamed tracks by a K-pop group on Spotify in 2023. The promotional cycle extended into a massive world tour that concluded in 2024 as the highest-grossing concert tour by a female group in history. [edit]
