Wistoria: Wand and Sword

Wistoria: Wand and Sword is a Japanese manga series set in a world where magical ability determines social standing and power. The story follows Will Serfort, a boy who enrolls at the prestigious Rigarden Magical Academy despite having virtually no magical talent. His only skill is exceptional swordsmanship, a talent considered obsolete in a society that reveres magic. Will's driving motivation is to reunite with his childhood friend and magical prodigy, Elfaria Alvis Serfort, who has ascended to the highest ranks of the magical elite. To achieve this, he must overcome systemic discrimination, survive brutal magical trials, and prove that a wandless swordsman can stand among the greatest wizards.

The manga began serialization in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine on December 9, 2020, and has been collected into 15 tankōbon volumes as of April 2026. An anime television series adaptation produced by Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures aired its first season from July to September 2024, with a second season premiering in April 2026. The series has sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide, driven by the anime's release.[edit]
