Weekly Young Jump

Shueisha launched Weekly Young Jump in March 1979 to serve as the mature counterpart to its flagship title, Weekly Shonen Jump. The publication targets an adult demographic with stories featuring heavy violence, complex social commentary, and explicit content that often push boundaries beyond standard shonen fare. Released every Thursday from the publisher's Tokyo headquarters, the magazine operates under the Young Jump Comics imprint for its collected tankōbon volumes.

The current roster includes approximately 28 regularly serialized titles such as Gantz, Baki the Grappler, and Kengan Ashura. One-Punch Man began its serialization here before moving to other platforms, highlighting the magazine's role in fostering boundary-pushing narratives. Tokyo Ghoul also originated within these pages before becoming a massive multimedia franchise.

In October 2025, the magazine announced that all new serializations would be simulpubbed in English on the Manga Plus platform. This strategic shift addresses declining print circulation trends affecting the broader industry while expanding international reach. Prior to this move, English rights were often licensed individually by publishers like Viz Media or Dark Horse. [edit]
