The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life

Asa Rokushima's The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life, originally published in Japanese as Chii Fuyo, kicks off with a relatable premise for anyone who’s ever felt unappreciated at work. The narrative blends fantasy adventure with themes of second chances and finding one's true calling, resonating with readers who enjoy tales of personal growth against magical backdrops.

The light novel version, featuring artwork by Kisui, saw its first two volumes released by Kodansha in 2022. Fans of the story also have a manga adaptation, drawn by Mochi Gyōmuyō, which has graced the pages of Kodansha's magazines since October 2021. This popular series is slated for an anime adaptation produced by P.A. Works, with a premiere planned for October 2026, further expanding the reach of this engaging fantasy tale. [edit]
