Overview
Princess Aurora faces a nightmare when an offended fairy curses her to prick her finger on a spindle and die before sunset. A second fairy softens the blow, turning death into a hundred-year slumber instead. To ensure she does not wake alone in silence, the good magic user puts the entire kingdom to sleep alongside her, creating a world of frozen time until a prince arrives to break the spell. This narrative arc defines the classic tale known across cultures as La Belle au bois dormant, Dornröschen, or simply The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods.
