Seraph of the End

In a world devastated by a mysterious virus that wiped out most adults, children are left to fend for themselves against a terrifying new threat: vampires. These creatures have emerged from the shadows, enslaving the remaining human youth. This is the setting for Seraph of the End, a manga series penned by Takaya Kagami and brought to life by the illustrations of Yamato Yamamoto, with storyboards by Daisuke Furuya. The narrative kicks off with the September 2012 debut in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine, quickly establishing a grim reality where supernatural entities are no longer folklore but a dangerous presence.

The story centers on Yuichiro Hyakuya, a young survivor driven by a burning desire for vengeance. He joins the elite vampire extermination forces, aiming to rid the world of the creatures that murdered his family and, more importantly, to rescue his kidnapped best friend, Mikaela Hyakuya. The manga, which has achieved over 15 million copies in circulation by October 2022, explores themes of family, betrayal, and the desperate struggle for survival in a post-apocalyptic landscape. Its compelling narrative led to a popular anime adaptation by Wit Studio, airing in 2015, and a series of prequel light novels focusing on the enigmatic Guren Ichinose. [edit]
