Ruri Rocks
"Introduction to Mineralogy"
Keiichirō Shibuya
Overview
Ruri Tanigawa spends her high school days hunting for shiny stones in the mountains, driven by a love for crystals that often clashes with the steep price of finished gems. Her solitary hobby transforms into a structured study of geology after she encounters Nagi, a graduate student who guides her through field trips and laboratory work. This mentorship shifts her focus from casual collecting to rigorous scientific observation, establishing the central narrative arc of Keiichirō Shibuya's series.
The manga launched in August 2019 within Enterbrain's Harta magazine and has since expanded to seven tankōbon volumes released by Harta Comix as of September 2025. Yen Press handles the English localization under the title Ruri Rocks, aligning with the branding used for the anime adaptation. The story balances academic instruction on mineral classification with slice-of-life elements, featuring supporting characters like Shoko Seto and Yoko Imari who collaborate with Ruri on science projects involving rare rock samples.
