Ranma ½

Ranma ½ is a fantastic manga series from the brilliant Rumiko Takahashi, and it really got its start back in August 1987, running until March 1996 in Weekly Shōnen Sunday. The story kicks off with Ranma Saotome, a seriously skilled martial artist who has this… peculiar problem. After a training trip in China, he takes a tumble into a cursed spring, and now, whenever cold water hits him, he turns into a girl. Only hot water can change him back. It’s a premise that just opens the door for so much hilarity and action!

What makes Ranma ½ so special is how it balances all the crazy martial arts action with genuinely funny romantic entanglements and loads of slapstick. Ranma’s life becomes a whirlwind as he deals with his curse, his many arranged engagements, and a whole cast of incredibly eccentric characters.
