Overview
Hakusensha launched Rakuen Le Paradis in October 2009 to create a dedicated space for stories that did not fit the standard monthly schedules of shonen or shojo magazines. The publication ran on a triannual cycle, releasing fresh issues in February, June, and October for seventeen years. It compiled exactly fifty volumes before Hakusensha announced its closure on October 31, 2025, with the final issue shipping on February 27, 2026.
The magazine carved out a unique niche by focusing heavily on josei and seinen demographics while championing GL (Girls' Love) narratives alongside mature drama and slice-of-life themes. Critics praised specific installments like Volume 4 as containing some of the most perfect lesbian comics ever published. This commitment to complex emotional landscapes and adult relationships defined the brand until its conclusion.
Following the end of the original run, the creative team behind the anthology moved their operations to a new project called Soten, published by Rido Sha. This transition ensures the specific style of storytelling continues even as the Rakuen Le Paradis title retires after reaching its fiftieth volume.
