Noragami

Yato is a minor deity who dreams of building his own shrine and gaining a thousand followers, but he currently has no shrine and only five yen to his name. He runs a delivery service for odd jobs ranging from finding lost items to exorcising spirits, charging the traditional five yen fee. His life changes when he saves Hiyori Iki from a bus accident, an act that tears her soul from her body and leaves her in a fragile state where she risks fading away if not reattached quickly.

To stabilize Hiyori, Yato recruits Yukine, a young spirit struggling to manifest a physical form and remember his past. Together they navigate a world populated by gods, ayakashi, and the afterlife while facing threats from malevolent entities like the Phantom Thieves and the mysterious organization known as the Fate. The narrative explores themes of identity, the burden of divinity, memory, redemption, and the complex bonds between gods and humans as it delves into Yato's tragic past.

The series ran in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Magazine from December 6, 2010, to January 6, 2024, concluding with its 27th collected volume. An anime adaptation produced by Studio Bones aired in two seasons in 2014, covering the initial arcs and the deeper mythology of the gods. By February 2024, the manga had sold over 8 million copies worldwide, cementing its status as a major work in the supernatural genre. [edit]
