    Overview

Ayumu Fujino, a popular elementary school student, draws a four-panel manga for her school newspaper and basks in her classmates' praise. Her confidence shatters when her teacher asks her to share her slot with Kyomoto, a truant classmate whose manga is technically far superior. Humiliated, Fujino becomes obsessed with improving, spending every waking moment drawing in a desperate attempt to surpass her rival. The rivalry shifts in middle school when Fujino is asked to deliver Kyomoto's graduation yearbook and discovers that Kyomoto is a devoted fan of her work. This revelation transforms their dynamic into a deep collaborative friendship. The pair begin creating manga together, navigating the pressures of ambition and self-doubt. A tragic event forces them to confront the purpose of their art and the bonds formed through creation. Fujimoto's restrained storytelling and expressive artwork make this a quietly devastating meditation on grief, obsession, and the quiet power of making something for someone else.
