
Overview
Sawako Kuronuma, a shy high school student, finds her life dramatically altered when the popular student Shōta Kazehaya befriends her. Due to her resemblance to a horror character, Sawako is often misunderstood and feared by her classmates, but Kazehaya sees her true kind nature.
The manga series, written and illustrated by Karuho Shiina, was serialized in Bessatsu Margaret from April 2006 to November 2017. It tells the story of Sawako's journey as she navigates high school, forms friendships, and experiences first love, overcoming misunderstandings along the way. The narrative explores themes of acceptance, personal growth, and the courage to connect with others.
Kimi ni Todoke, which translates to "From Me to You," achieved significant commercial success, with over 33 million copies in print by its conclusion. It was honored with the Best Shōjo Manga award at the 32nd Annual Kodansha Manga Awards in 2008. The series has also been adapted into anime, live-action films, and a recent live-action series.
