Kill Blue
Tadatoshi Fujimaki
Overview
Juzo Ogami has spent years as a cold-blooded assassin, efficient and detached. But after a bizarre incident leaves him trapped in the body of a high school student, he must trade his sniper rifle for a backpack and navigate the chaos of adolescence. The series follows Ogami as he enrolls in school, trying to blend in while dodging enemies from his past and dealing with the absurdities of teenage life, cram school, crushes, and classroom politics.
Written and illustrated by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, Kill Blue ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from April 17, 2023, to September 1, 2025, spanning thirteen tankōbon volumes. Fujimaki's art balances kinetic action sequences with deadpan comedic beats, and the story leans heavily on the contrast between Ogami's world-weary professionalism and the trivial dramas of high school. The first volume, released in Japan on September 4, 2023, includes chapters like "Let's Go to School" and "The Wisdom of Others."
An anime adaptation by studio Cue premiered on April 11, 2026, on TXN (TV Tokyo), directed by Hiro Kaburagi. The first season ran through June 2026, and a second season has already been announced. While the series hasn't yet reached the cultural saturation of long-running Jump titles, its premise, a middle-aged hitman forced into a second adolescence, has drawn a dedicated readership and strong digital sales through Viz Media's English release.
