Overview
Yoshifumi Nitta thought his life as a mid-ranking yakuza was predictable, filled with the usual blend of loyalty, debt collection, and the occasional street brawl. That all changed one night when a strange oval object materialized in his apartment, revealing a young girl named Hina. This girl, it turns out, possesses potent telekinetic abilities, and Nitta finds himself reluctantly tasked with her care. What follows is a chaotic, hilarious journey as Nitta tries to manage Hina's unpredictable powers and her even more unpredictable appetite for destruction, all while navigating his own criminal underworld.
Masao Ohtake's manga series Hinamatsuri, originally serialized in Harta magazine from June 2010 to July 2020, collects its chapters into 19 volumes. The story blends slice-of-life comedy with supernatural elements, exploring the bizarre domestic life that unfolds between the stoic yakuza and the immensely powerful, yet often childlike, Hina. As more superpowered girls begin to surface, Nitta's world only gets more complicated, leading to absurd situations and surprisingly heartwarming moments. The series offers a unique look at found family dynamics, set against a backdrop of organized crime and inexplicable phenomena.
