Himouto! Umaru-chan
Sankakuhead
Overview
Umaru Doma maintains a flawless reputation at her high school as an intelligent, beautiful, and kind older sister. Once she steps through the front door of her home, however, that image shatters completely. She transforms into a lazy teenager who spends her days drinking soda, playing video games, and demanding that her brother Taihei serve her snacks while wearing a tiger-themed onesie. The narrative explores the daily domestic comedy arising from this duality, balancing the absurdity of her secret life with genuine moments of sibling bonding.
Sankakuhead originally published two one-shot chapters in Shueisha's Miracle Jump magazine during 2012. The series launched full serialization in Weekly Young Jump in March 2013 and continued until November 2017. These stories were collected into twelve tankōbon volumes by the Young Jump Comics imprint. A sequel titled Himouto! Umaru-chan G followed shortly after, running briefly in late 2017 and early 2018 before compiling into a single volume.
In December 2025, the author revealed tragic circumstances behind the manga's creation, noting that this context could alter how readers perceive the story. Production pacing changed in February 2026 when Sankakuhead ended the weekly serialization schedule. By September 2026, plans for a new installment had been announced, signaling a revival of the franchise.
