Herogasm

Garth Ennis and John McCrea's 2009 comic series, Herogasm, offers a lurid glimpse into the secret lives of superheroes, running as a scandalous spin-off from Ennis's popular The Boys. The six-issue run, collected as the fifth volume of The Boys, is set between issues #30 and #31 of the main series. It plunges readers into the heart of an exclusive, debauched annual event where Vought-American's sponsored capes indulge in orgies and other hedonistic pursuits, far from the public eye. This is superhero fiction stripped bare, revealing the messy, immoral underbelly of those who wear the capes.

The narrative follows the Boys as they reluctantly infiltrate this clandestine superhero gathering. Their mission is to disrupt the festivities and gather intelligence, but they quickly find themselves entangled in the rampant excess and moral decay of the superhero elite. The story was later adapted into the third season of the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys, featuring Jensen Ackles as the character Soldier Boy, who made his debut in this particular comic arc.
