Overview
Bill Amend launched FoxTrot on April 10, 1988, creating a daily comic strip that quickly became a staple of syndicated humor. The series focuses on the Fox family, featuring parents Roger and Andrea raising their three children: Peter, Paige, and Jason. Unlike many family comics that rely on slapstick, Amend grounds his work in specific details about technology, video games, and mathematics. The humor emerges from the clash between the kids' intense hobbies and their parents' attempts to manage them.
The strip ran seven days a week until December 31, 2006, when it transitioned to a Sunday-only schedule. This shift allowed Amend to focus on more elaborate single-panel gags without the pressure of a daily deadline. Over nearly two decades, the collection grew into numerous trade paperback volumes published by Andrews McMeel Publishing. These books compile decades of strips rather than telling a single continuous story.
