Drops of God
Shin Kibayashi, Shū Okimoto, Tadashi Agi
Overview
Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto created a sprawling manga that turns wine tasting into high-stakes drama. The story splits into distinct chapters, starting with Shizuku Kanzaki and his rival Issei Tomine hunting for the legendary Twelve Apostles wines. Their journey shifts from competition to mentorship as they seek the mythical Drops of God. Later installments follow an older Shizuku traveling abroad, teaching Issei's daughter about the complex marriage between food and drink while he continues his global quest. The original run appeared in Kodansha's Weekly Morning from November 2004 to June 2014, spanning 44 volumes. A sequel titled Drops of God: Mariage began serialization in May 2015 and concluded in October 2020 across 26 volumes. This final chapter explored deeper international knowledge before a brief two-volume finale called Drops of God deuxième wrapped up the saga in early 2024. The series gained fame for its precise wine details that influenced real-world sales and inspired live-action shows plus an anime adaptation set to premiere in April 2026.
