    Overview

Dr. Stone is a Japanese manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by South Korean artist Boichi. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from March 6, 2017 to March 7, 2022, and collected into 27 tankōbon volumes. The series was first published in English in North America by Viz Media, and Shueisha began simultaneously publishing English chapters on its Manga Plus app in January 2019.

The story follows Senku Ishigami, a teenage scientific genius, and his friend Taiju Oki, who awaken 3,700 years after a mysterious green light petrified all of humanity. Taiju, who was about to confess his love to Yuzuriha Ogawa, remained conscious throughout the millennia. After breaking free, Senku begins building a primitive base and devises a formula to de-petrify others using nitric acid and alcohol. Senku's goal is to rebuild civilization using science, starting from the Stone Age. The plot involves reviving key allies and confronting Tsukasa Shishio, a powerful young man who wants to limit the revival to only the young and pure, leading to a conflict over the future of humanity. The series is a post-apocalyptic science fiction adventure that emphasizes optimism, teamwork, and the practical application of scientific knowledge.

The manga won the 64th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen category in 2019. It placed second in the fourth Next Manga Awards in 2018 and ranked fifteenth alongside Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! on Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of top manga for male readers in 2018, and seventeenth in 2020. It was a Jury Recommended Work in the Manga Division at the 21st Japan Media Arts Festival in 2018 and was nominated for the 54th Seiun Award in the Best Comic category in 2023. In a 2021 TV Asahi poll of 150,000 people, it ranked 100th on their top 100 manga list. Barnes & Noble listed it as one of "Our Favorite Manga of 2018." By March 2026, the manga had over 20 million copies in circulation.
