Doko Yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e

Kazuki Tsukigase arrives at Sakijima High School on a remote island seeking to bury his past and disappear from the world. His quiet life changes abruptly one early summer morning when he stumbles upon an unconscious girl washed up in a cove near the school. This chance encounter launches a story focused on two troubled souls navigating isolation, memory loss, and the slow process of healing together.

Akiko Abe wrote this light novel series with illustrations by syo5 for Shueisha's Orange Bunko imprint. The project gained significant momentum quickly, leading to a major theatrical adaptation announced in February 2026. Unlike previous summaries that confused this work with an Antarctic expedition tale, the source material centers entirely on the romance and drama unfolding between Kazuki and the mysterious amnesiac girl.

The anime film adaptation arrived later that year, produced by TMS Entertainment. It premiered in Japanese theaters on October 9, 2026, followed by screenings in Taiwan starting October 30. Promotional campaigns throughout the summer featured multiple trailers and character videos that highlighted the emotional depth of the script. [edit]
