Death on the Nile

Agatha Christie launched Death on the Nile in November 1937, sending British readers a tale of murder aboard a steamship cruising Egypt. The Collins Crime Club printed the first edition at seven shillings and sixpence, while American buyers paid two dollars through Dodd, Mead and Company. This hardcover mystery spans 256 pages and introduces the world to Hercule Poirot during his holiday travels along the River Nile. Unlike her earlier short story from 1933 that starred Parker Pyne, this novel stands alone as a classic locked-room puzzle set against a backdrop of ancient monuments and modern luxury.[edit]
