Choujin X

Choujin X is a supernatural action manga written and illustrated by Sui Ishida, the creator of Tokyo Ghoul. Serialized by Shueisha in Shonen Jump+ and later Weekly Shonen Jump since May 10, 2021, the series follows two high school friends, Tokio Kurohara and Azuma Higashi. After being attacked by a rampaging Choujin, they ingest a drug made from its flesh and gain superhuman abilities. Azuma embraces his power to become a hero, while Tokio is pulled into a violent underworld of government conspiracies and rival factions.

The manga explores identity, body horror, and the blurred line between humanity and monstrosity, themes familiar to Ishida's previous work. His art has evolved into a more fluid and chaotic style, with abstract paneling that divides readers. The series holds over 1.2 million copies in circulation as of mid-2024 and is published in English by VIZ Media. It was nominated for the Next Manga Award in 2022 but has not won major prizes. No anime adaptation has been announced, though fan anticipation is high.[edit]
