100 Meters

Uoto's 100 Meters transforms the high-stakes world of track and field into a character-driven drama about two boys finding their footing. Togashi, a sprinting prodigy with a natural gift for speed, crosses paths with Komiya, a transfer student who struggles to connect with anyone. When Togashi introduces Komiya to running, he unknowingly sparks a rivalry that pushes both athletes beyond their limits. Originally published as a one-shot titled 100'M, the story gained traction online through Kodansha's Magazine Pocket before being collected into five tankōbon volumes between late 2018 and mid-2019. The narrative received a stunning visual treatment in the form of an anime film directed by Kenji Iwaizawa. Produced by Rock 'n' Roll Mountain, the movie premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2025. It hit Japanese theaters in September, followed by limited releases in the United States and Australia later that autumn. A global streaming debut on Netflix arrived on New Year's Eve 2025. The voice cast features Tori Matsuzaka, Shota Sometani, Kenjiro Tsuda, and Koki Uchiyama, bringing depth to the characters while GKIDS and Sugoi Co handled North American and Australian licensing respectively. Critics praised the rotoscoped animation style and Hiroaki Tsutsumi's score, noting how the visuals captured the raw intensity of sprinting.
