BMW M8

BMW's M division took the 8 Series and turned it into a fire-breathing grand tourer in June 2019. The M8 arrived first as a two-door coupe and convertible, with the four-door Gran Coupe joining later that year. Under the long hood sits the S63 twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8, an engine shared with the M5 but tuned to deliver 600 horsepower in the standard car and 617 in the Competition variant. All-wheel drive comes standard through the M xDrive system, which can send power entirely to the rear wheels for track fun.

The M8's interior wraps occupants in leather, carbon fiber, and Alcantara. The standard M Sport seats hold tight through corners, while the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch infotainment screen keep things modern. Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers lets the car glide over highway miles or stiffen up for canyon carving. The eight-speed M Steptronic transmission shifts with brutal speed, and the exhaust note, a mix of deep rumble and crackling pops, reminds you this is a V8 with attitude.

Production quietly ended in October 2025 after a six-year run. The M8 never sold in massive numbers, but it carved out a loyal following among drivers who wanted a daily-drivable supercar with four usable seats and a trunk big enough for luggage. Its competition included the Mercedes-AMG GT63, Porsche Panamera Turbo, and Audi RS7. With the 8 Series now discontinued, the M8 stands as BMW's last non-hybrid, large-displacement V8 grand tourer, a send-off for an era. [edit]
