Big Bash League

The Big Bash League (BBL) is Australia's professional Twenty20 cricket competition, launched in the 2011-12 season by Cricket Australia. Eight city-based franchises compete over the Australian summer, from December through February, in a fast-paced, family-friendly format designed to attract new audiences. The league quickly became one of the most attended domestic sports leagues globally, with average crowds exceeding 20,000 in its peak years. Matches feature music, fireworks, and player mic'd-up segments, blending sport with entertainment.

The BBL has produced six different champions, with the Perth Scorchers leading the pack with six titles. The Sydney Sixers have four, while the Brisbane Heat, Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers, and Melbourne Renegades have each won once. The competition's structure has evolved over the years, currently featuring a league stage followed by a finals series including a Qualifier, Knockout, Challenger, and Final.
