Founded in 1936 by Shmuel Kirschstein and David Horn, Beitar Jerusalem emerged from the Betar branch of the Revisionist Zionist movement. The club's identity has remained deeply intertwined with right-wing politics and the Likud party since its inception, with early members also associated with the Irgun and Lehi militias. Based in Jerusalem, the team plays its home matches at Teddy Stadium, which stands as the largest stadium in Israel with a capacity of approximately 31,733 spectators.

On the pitch, Beitar has secured six Israeli Premier League titles in 1986–87, 1992–93, 1996–97, 1997–98, 2006–07, and 2007–08. The squad also holds eight Israeli Cup victories, with the most recent trophy coming in the 2022–23 season.
