Records

Boochani's achievements are remarkable given the circumstances under which he worked. Writing a full-length memoir on a smuggled phone while in detention is unprecedented. His book won two major Australian literary prizes, bringing international attention to the plight of refugees. He has become a leading voice in refugee advocacy, and his work has been translated into multiple languages.

AwardsBoochani won the Victorian Prize for Literature and the Victorian Premier's Prize for Nonfiction in 2019 for No Friend But the Mountains. His documentary Chauka has also received international recognition.
