Released on November 14, 2009, "BedRock" served as the second single from the collaborative album We Are Young Money, a compilation showcasing the roster of Lil Wayne's Young Money label. The track is a posse cut featuring six rappers in a specific order: Lil Wayne, Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga, and Jae Millz, with R&B singer Lloyd handling the chorus. The song was produced by Kane Beatz, who reused the beat from Travis Porter's 2009 track "A.D.I.D.A.S."

"BedRock" marked Nicki Minaj's debut single appearance, arriving months before the release of her first album Pink Friday. Drake's verse interpolates the line "Girl, I gotta watch my back, 'cause I'm not just anybody" from Aaliyah's 1998 song "Are You That Somebody," written by Static Major and Timbaland. The songwriters include all featured artists alongside Kane Beatz, Stephen Garrett, Timbaland, and Jasper Cameron, reflecting the interpolation credit.

Commercially, the song peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, blocked from the top spot by Kesha's "Tik Tok." It also reached number 9 on the UK Singles Chart. The Recording Industry Association of America certified it 3× Multi-Platinum in 2020, representing over 3 million units. The official music video, directed by someone not publicly credited, accumulated over 393 million YouTube views as of 2024. In August 2011, Done Deal Enterprises filed a copyright infringement lawsuit claiming that songwriter Blue Marley wrote "BedRock" months before Young Money's version; the outcome of the suit is not widely reported.
