Becca Balint

Balint's career is defined by a series of historic firsts. In 2022, she became the first woman and first openly LGBTQ person elected to represent Vermont in the U.S. House of Representatives, ending Vermont's status as the only state never to send a woman to Congress. In the Vermont Senate, she was the first openly lesbian member, the first woman Majority Leader, and the first woman and openly LGBTQ person to serve as President Pro Tempore. Her leadership helped pass Vermont's first gun safety laws.
