Overview
Shikiso Utsuzawa launched this series as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in June 2020. The narrative centers on Eliane, a young woman who served as the kingdom's Saint and protected Belkheim from monsters since childhood. Her life changes abruptly when Crown Prince Claude cancels their engagement and banishes her without cause or warning.
Eliane leaves for a neighboring kingdom to start over as a commoner, but the title hints at the central conflict: the nation begins to crumble due to noble incompetence once she is gone. It becomes clear that corrupt forces set up her removal to doom the country, forcing Eliane to realize the kingdom cannot survive without her help. This setup blends self-discovery with political intrigue and the satisfaction of seeing antagonists face consequences.
Kodansha acquired the series for print publication in February 2021 under their K Ranobe Books imprint with illustrations by Pukyunosuke. Seven volumes existed by December 2024, while the manga adaptation by Mokuba Matsu began serialization in April 2021 and reached thirteen volumes by July 2026. English editions are available through retailers like Amazon and Apple Books, often categorized under cozy fantasy.
