Weiss has been recognized as one of the top ten influential Jewish people worldwide by The Jerusalem Post in 2019. Vanity Fair called her the New York Times's "star opinion writer" in 2019. Her resignation letter from the Times was widely discussed and became a defining moment in debates about media culture. She has been a regular columnist for Die Welt since 2021. Her appointment as editor-in-chief of CBS News in 2025 made her one of the most prominent figures in mainstream news media.

AwardsWeiss has won several awards for her journalism and writing. In 2018, she received the Bastiat Prize from the Reason Foundation for writing that demonstrates the importance of freedom. The Jewish Book Council gave her a National Book Award. In 2021, the LA Press Club honored her with the Daniel Pearl Award for Courage and Integrity in Journalism. She also won the Dao Prize for Excellence in Investigative Journalism from the National Journalism Center.
