Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi, a devout follower of Lord Hanuman, lives with his father in the small town of Mandwa, Madhya Pradesh. He is earnest, naive, and deeply religious, refusing to lie and offering prayers before every meal. His inability to speak fluent English costs him a job, prompting his father to send him to Delhi to find work and a wife. There, he meets Rasika, an MBA student, and despite his awkwardness, they fall in love.

During a visit to Rasika's family home, Pawan discovers a mute Pakistani girl named Shahida, nicknamed Munni, who has been separated from her mother during a pilgrimage to India. Unable to speak, she cannot reveal her origins, and Rasika's family has taken her in temporarily. When Rasika's mother insists the girl be sent away, Pawan, moved by compassion, decides to personally take Munni back to her family in Pakistan.
