    About This Album

Britney Spears's debut album, …Baby One More Time, arrived on January 12, 1999, via Jive Records. At 17, Spears had already spent years on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club, but she struggled to find a record deal. After several rejections, she signed with Jive in 1997 and flew to Sweden to work with producers Max Martin and Rami Yacoub. Together, they crafted a sound that blended pop, dance-pop, teen pop, and bubblegum pop. The album features 11 tracks, with Spears later recalling how the title track immediately felt like a hit. Recording wrapped in June 1998.

Critics initially gave the album mixed reviews, praising its commercial appeal but dismissing it as lightweight. Still, it earned Spears a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2000. Over time, …Baby One More Time has been recognized as a pop culture milestone. It topped the US Billboard 200, making Spears one of the youngest artists to do so, and has sold over 25 million copies worldwide. The lead single, …Baby One More Time, became a global smash, hitting number one in multiple countries and later being named the greatest debut single of all time by Rolling Stone. Subsequent singles like Sometimes, (You Drive Me) Crazy, and Born to Make You Happy kept the momentum going. To support the album, Spears launched her first headlining tour, the …Baby One More Time Tour, followed by the (You Drive Me) Crazy Tour.
