Ate Gay

Gil Aducal Morales, born August 12, 1971, in Manila, built his career by channeling the spirit of Philippine cinema royalty. He performs under the stage name Ate Gay, a playful nod to the nickname given to legendary actress Nora Aunor. His act relies on sharp vocal impressions and physical comedy that captures the essence of the diva without mocking her talent. This unique angle helped him secure spots on major television networks where he could showcase his range beyond simple impersonation. Morales found steady work hosting variety shows that needed a mix of sketch comedy and musical parodies. He co-presented Comedy Bar from 2010 to 2011 alongside other local talents. The show ran for two seasons before moving to new formats. In 2013, he joined the cast of Wowowillie, a long-running noontime program known for its chaotic energy and celebrity guests. His time on these programs allowed him to perform live with an audience, refining his timing and improvisational skills. Viewers often tune in specifically for his segments featuring comedic mashups of popular songs, where he blends different genres into hilarious medleys. Across more than two decades of appearances, Morales has appeared in numerous television movies and sitcoms throughout the Philippines. While he does not always carry a film as the lead, his supporting roles often steal the scene. His ability to switch between characters keeps casting directors interested for guest spots and recurring parts. He remains a familiar face on ABS-CBN and GMA platforms, proving that character actors can sustain long careers through consistency and humor.[edit]
