Associação Atlética Internacional

Associação Atlética Internacional, commonly called Inter de Limeira, is a Brazilian football club from Limeira, São Paulo. Founded on October 5, 1913, by a group of local sportsmen, it is one of the older football institutions in the state. The club's colors are black and white, and its mascot is a lion, symbolizing strength and pride. Inter de Limeira plays its home matches at Estádio Major José Levy Sobrinho, which holds about 18,000 spectators.

The club's crowning achievement came in 1986 when it won the Campeonato Paulista, the top state league, defeating Palmeiras in the final. That remains its only top-division state title and its most significant trophy. Inter de Limeira also competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, finishing as high as 5th in 1987, and has participated in the Copa do Brasil. In the national scene, Inter de Limeira reached 5th place in the 1987 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, its best finish. The club also participated in the Copa do Brasil in various editions. However, financial difficulties and relegations followed. By the 2000s, the club was playing in lower divisions. In 2023, Inter de Limeira placed 8th in the Campeonato Paulista Série A2, narrowly missing promotion to the top state division. In the 2023 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the team was eliminated in the first round, finishing 4th in its group.

Notable former players include midfielder Cléber Santana (who played for São Paulo and Atlético Madrid), forward Aloísio (a Brazilian international for Paris Saint-Germain), and goalkeeper Waldir Peres (a Brazil international who later managed the club).
