Asim Munir's career is distinguished by several historic firsts. He is the only officer in Pakistan's history to have headed both the Military Intelligence and Inter-Services Intelligence directorates before becoming army chief. His promotion to Field Marshal in 2023 made him just the second person in the nation's history to hold that rank, after Ayub Khan. He has been recognized by Forbes Asia as one of Asia's most powerful figures and by TIME magazine in its 100 Next list of emerging leaders. His religious achievement of memorizing the Quran is a rare personal distinction that has been widely noted.
