Ash Ketchum

Ash Ketchum was born and raised in Pallet Town in the Kanto region. From a young age, he idolized Pokémon Trainers and dreamed of becoming a Pokémon Master. On his 10th birthday, he was scheduled to receive his first Pokémon from Professor Samuel Oak, but overslept. By the time he arrived, the only starter left was a stubborn Pikachu that refused to obey him. With a broken bicycle and an electric mouse that wouldn't listen, Ash set out on his journey, quickly learning that the bond between Trainer and Pokémon matters more than power.[edit]

Ash is determined, optimistic, and fiercely loyal to his friends and Pokémon. He has an unshakable belief in the potential of every Pokémon, often seeing goodness in creatures others dismiss. His impulsiveness and tendency to rush into situations get him into trouble, but his courage and empathy help him forge deep connections. He values friendship over victory and is known for his catchphrase, 'I'll do my best!' He can be naive about romance and is completely focused on his goal of becoming a Pokémon Master.[edit]

Over 25 seasons, Ash evolved from a novice Trainer who relied on luck into a strategic battler and mentor. Early losses taught him humility and the importance of training. His journey through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar saw him face rivals like Gary, Paul, and Alain, each pushing him to grow. A major turning point came in the Kalos region, where his loss in the league final to Alain sparked deep reflection. In Alola, he won his first league championship, becoming the region's first Champion. He then conquered the World Coronation Series, defeating Leon to become the World Champion in Pokémon Ultimate Journeys.
