Arsenal began as Dial Square in October 1886, formed by munitions workers in Woolwich, and soon evolved into Royal Arsenal and then Woolwich Arsenal. A major shift came in 1913 when it moved to Highbury, sparking the fierce North London derby with Tottenham Hotspur and setting the stage for future successes under managers like Herbert Chapman.

Chapman's innovations in the 1930s, including new tactics and team branding, led to five league titles and two FA Cups. The club added more glory in the 1970s with its first league and FA Cup double, followed by a golden period in the 1990s and 2000s under Arsène Wenger. His leadership brought three league titles, seven FA Cups, and that legendary unbeaten streak in 2003-2004, solidifying Arsenal's place as a powerhouse in English football.

Under current manager Mikel Arteta, a former club captain, Arsenal has reemerged as a title contender.
